It's my pleasure to share my
experience with the Taiwan Hostfamily Program. I arrived in Taiwan on September
2017, while I arrived here, I don’t know anyone here and I can’t write or speak
a single word in mandarin. That time I
was felt very difficult to interact with Taiwanese, but my studies in English
so I don’t go out to visit anywhere. My first host family program in “Yingge”. After I arrived at the meeting point, I was matched with Mrs. Yang
family, we all together made “CLAY POT” while that time I was interacting and
also playing with Taiwanese kids. Then, the following activity “Painting”
and “Rolling ball” was very awesome
learning and also have more fun, I have enjoyed it a lot. These things happened
one year ago, but I still remember each moment of the day because it was my
first experience in my life. Mrs. Yang and her family still in my contact they
often invite me for various programs to visit places such as Orange farm, Dragon
fruits farm, Shimen reservoirs (Dam) in Taoyuan, and their school. And another
most memorable activity in Banqiao, we visited “Blue dying”, at the time while
eating lunch, one Taiwanese kid, after seeing me she was crying and her parents
controlled her, whenever I go near to her she was cried. Finally, I made her
with my friend. Her parents also very excited and I lift her and took photos. It
was a very awesome memory with Taiwanese kids. Still, now I attended more than
six programs, in various places in Taiwan. I have a lot of friends and host
family. Here I want to mention especially for the organizer and student
volunteer for giving memorable days in Taiwan. They all are very friendly.
Sorry, I don’t remember their name, but I remember everyone. Just saying “Thank
you” is not valued to compensate the THW. I heartfelt gratitude to Taiwan host
family program organizers and the Taiwan government for giving such a wonderful
experience. Giving opportunity to the other country students, it's not an easy
task. You (THF) did for more than 10 years, and my kind request is to keep continuing the
activity without ending. And I finally end with one of my language quotes which
are 2000 years ago,
a Tamil poet wrote: “யாதும் ஊரே யாவரும் கேளிர்”(Yaadhum Oore Yaavarum
Kelir) which mean “To us, all towns are our own, everyone
our kin”.
