What motivates me
to join “Taiwan Hostfamily program” is that I am a big fan of exotic culture. Therefore, our family started this incredible
journey of meeting new friends about three years ago.
During the
process, the best part is that my daughter can get to know some countries she
has never heard before, like Belize. I
met Solomon from Belize at one of the activities two years ago. He is very
interesting, showing us the location of his hometown and telling us that Belize
is the only English-speaking country in Central America.
Another student we
hosted two years ago was Carolin, a charming, easygoing German girl who studied
in National Chung-Hsing University. She
was obsessed with eastern culture, especially temples in Taiwan so she visited
lots of temples on weekends. We invited
her to Maoli, a lovely county with rustic vibe. We strolled on the old,
deserted rail, happily talking about her school life and our travel plans.
Gao-mei Wetland is
the fantastic must-see in Central Taiwan. We enjoyed the breeze and luckily saw
the beautiful sunset. Then, in order to
taste authentic local food, I took my mom, Carolin and another Japanese friend
to downtown for delicious Xiaolongbao. During the meal, though my mom couldn’t
speak English, she still enjoyed their company. They used simple Chinese and
body language to communicate and they had a good time. Xiaolongbao really fascinated Carolin;
therefore, after going back to Germany, she bought ingredients in Asian stores to
make Xiaolongbao for her family. She
sent me the photo and wow I got to say that she is a genius, a foodie.
Finally,
I would like to show my gratitude to “Taiwan Hostfamily Program”. Without their effort and connection, I won’t
encounter so many friends from other countries. They are part of my life— an unforgettable
memory. They fulfill my dream of
exploring this amazing world. So, don’t
hesitate and welcome to join this big family.
